Mahatma Gandhi and United Kingdom

We would like to reflect on the remarkable connection between Mahatma Gandhi and the United Kingdom, a connection that shaped Gandhi's transformative journey and left a lasting impact on the history of both nations. Mahatma Gandhi's association with the United Kingdom began when he embarked on his studies in London in the late 19th century. It was during this time that he was exposed to Western ideologies, legal systems, and the struggles for justice and equality. His experiences in the United Kingdom played a pivotal role in shaping his thinking and provided a foundation for his future endeavors.

Upon returning to India, Gandhi became actively involved in the struggle for India's independence from British colonial rule. Gandhi's approach was characterized by nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience, inspired in part by the teachings of Henry David Thoreau and his own deep conviction in the power of nonviolence.
