Pune’s Dr, Vinita Apte receives ‘Mahatma Award’

The Mahatma Award is internationally awarded by the Mahatma Award Committee to promote the work of individuals and organisations, across the world, that have made significant contributions to society in the field of environmental conservation.

The Mahatma Award was established by social entrepreneur and social activist Amit Sachdev, director of New York-based Liveweek Foundation, who is also known as the ‘CSR man of India’ for his advocacy for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Bill in India. Jindal Steel And Power Limited Conferred With Mahatma Award 2020

 

New Delhi [India], February 1 (ANI): Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), Naveen Jindal on Monday has been conferred with the prestigious Mahatma Award 2020 for its humanitarian effort to support the communities and local administration in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of JSPL Foundation, the social arm of JSPL, received the award today at India International Centre, New Delhi.


Thanking the jury members for the award, Shallu Jindal said, "As a responsible corporate citizen, we launched Mission Zero Hunger in and around the operational geographies of JSPL and also in the National Capital to ensure that none is sleeping on an empty stomach because of COVID-19 induced human misery. We could also insulate the local community from loss of livelihood and ensured access to everyday cash income during this wage crunch period."
The press release by JSPL stated, "During the pandemic, the JSPL Foundation extended the customized rehabilitation training to more than 3000 children with special needs at its Rehabilitation Centres called as Asha-The Hope. JSPL also provided medically required oxygen for use by various COVID-19 hospitals and contributed Rs 25 crores to PM-CARES fund to fight the global pandemic."

Abu Dhabi association wins Mahatma Award for Covid-19 service

Khaleej Times /Abu Dhabi, January 31, 2021 ISC president Yogish Prabhu received the award from Shallu Jindal, chairperson, JSPL Foundation, at an in-person event held in New Delhi, India, to mark the 73rd death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Established in 2017 by social entrepreneur and philanthropist Amit Sachdeva, the award honours individuals and organisations making a positive impact on society. Past recipients include industrialist Ratan Tata, philanthropist Rajashree Birla, Twitter for Good, Reliance Foundation, and Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, among others.

Since the start of the pandemic, the ISC supported the needy by distributing more than 50,000 free food kits, over 2,000 personal protective equipment and 1,000 sanitisers and masks.
